Daffodilia

Dear All,

Now that the Daffodil season is over for me I can get down to doing some of the things I have asked to do!

The rain has returned after 2 wonderful weeks of sunshine, but at least the garden is thankful!

I was asked by Ben and Nancy at the daffnet seminar in Sacramento to put something up on daffnet to test the waters as to having a page dedicated Daffodilia, the collection of anything depicting the image of a daffodil!

As many of you know I have been a keen collector for many years, chiefly Cups and Saucers but I also have a collection of late 19th and early 20thcentury slip painted pottery form the South West coast of England know as Torquay Ware, all with daffodil design .

Then of course the is the daffodil charms many silver but one or two in gold and the neck ties that are starting to fill my wardrobe! Not forgetting my ADS convention badges that I know many of you also collect.

So that’s a few bits of my collections.

Pictures below to give you an idea, let’s see what u got!

Keep smiling,

Ian

Ian, your collection of Torquay Ware and pins is very interesting.  It was also fun to see so many convention pins displayed together.

I see many of Nancy Tackett’s pins during convention times as she wears a vest covered in pins from our ADS conventions as well as pins given to her from Australia, Japan, New Zealand, the Netherlands, and the UK, England and Northern Ireland.

She even has some silver pins from Ferndale California, some of them similar to your large set.

I suspect there are others on Daffnet that are collectors too.  Please post photos on Daffnet.org.

    🙂

    Ben

    Hi Ian,

I enjoyed looking at your photos of Daffodilia. I am not a collector but I enjoyed your collection. You forgot one trophy, and that’s you. It have been a great pleasure knowing you for the last 20 years or so. I remember you sitting at our pool with your feet in the water in 2004 when our place was on one of the convention bus tours. Consider yourself as a collector’s item.

Thank you Clay for your kind words but I sorry to disappoint but I did not
make it to the Washington Convention in 2004, so have never been to your
property or wiggled my toes in your pool!
But I did manage to obtain a pin via the backdoor!
My best wishes to Fran and yourself.

    Hi Ian,

Sorry. It may have been Tony. I remember it was an Englishman. We enjoyed them all. I enjoyed judging with you in 2016.

    Best regards,

    Clay

    Hi Ian,

I don’t know how to edit the above comment.  Sorry to misspell your name and the added J in front of my comment.

Actually I spent most of my time at your place with my feet in the pool.

    Dave,

You may become a collector’s item one of these days, like Ian.
