A sriking display of books

In rereading my message this morning I realized that there is a small typo which overstated the size but not the nature of the book display. There are about a dozen books currently on display.
Leora has done her research, probably initiated last year when she and her staff researched the list of holdings in the ADS Library. She found that all of the daffodil holdings in that list are in the CBG library. Keep in mind that this institution is only 35 years old. They have been very fortunate in their “choice” of benefactors.
The display is accompanied by informative cards with annotations which make the display more interesting. Included are references to the two sources for the name, Narcissus – the myth of the young man and the Greek root for narcotic.
Just now, googling on this topic, I found the following quote which we probably should not use in promotional materials for the ADS:
“all (stories of the Narcissus myth) include his METAMORPHOSIS into a FLOWER of this name representing PERISHABLENESS AND DEATH; these FLOWERS GROW IN THE UNDERWORLD AND ARE SACRED TO HADES”
I can vouch for the perishableness – usually the night before a show.

I don’t know, George. Might get us some very interesting new members!
