Mass planting of Daffodils in Wellington New Zealand

doc iconVolunteers to plant daffodils in Central Park.docx

 Hello Daffnetters

Thankyou for all the lovely photos of daffodil drifts. I thought you might like to know that we are going to have Central Park, an old park noted for it’s established deciduous trees, underplanted with daffodils for all of us to enjoy too. I’ve attached the press release below as it features the generosity of three of our members and I’ve heard that the planting has almost been completed. Those who plan to come to NZ for the World Convention in 2012 will have an excuse now to stop over in Wellington and view this planting along with that in the Botanic Gardens before going onto the South Island and the Convention.

Winter has arrived early here in NZ with storms affecting everyone. Here in Wellington,we’re experiencing southerly storms, gale force winds (strongest gust was 148Km/hour) and very high seas (13.9m was the maximum swell and the average was 6.5m) meaning that the Cook Strait Ferry sailings were cancelled on Saturday. Snow has settled on the mountains already! However it’s excellent cool weather for the bulbs though.
regards
