Earthquake

Friends in New Zealand.
I just read of a 7.4 quake on the South Island.  Is anyone from there on the daffnet who can tell us if everyone we know is ok?

    Alistair and I live in Timaru some kms from Christchurch yes we did have the eathquake.  The quake has been down graded to 7.1 and there is now an civil emergency. 
     
    We have a daughter living in christchurch she has doors through walls everything falling out of cupboards beds pushed around in the rooms , cars moved in garages.
     
    Most of the old buildings in Christchurch have been destroyed some looting as appeared mainly liqour stores. Water is in short supply and sewerage seems to be a problem.
     
    This they say will cost millions of dollars to fix as some of the buildings are years old.  Cellphones are off as the batteris are flat only some of the landlines are going.
