Hi all,

This lot of flowers are from the Morrinsville Show in the North Island yesterday, Friday, nowhere near the earthquake. Haven’t heard from any of the Christchurch growers but not likely to because the power is out over large areas.

Now to the show results. These are the premier blooms.

I am puting these on starting from 1y-y and finshing with 8.

The first one  1y-y Frankolin, exhibitor Robin Hill

  1. Ron,
Thanks for the really excellent pictures of some very nice flowers. This 1Y-Y looks very like one I know well as ‘Francolin’, named for a Partridge like bird  that is, or was common in 1995/96,  in the Cape areas of S. Africa. Though a very consistent, smooth flower and a useful breeder it tends to be a bit small for a trumpet. Maybe, like many things it grows a bit bigger in New Zealand.

  2. Brian and all,
Yes it is Francolin, incorrect spelling. A lovely smooth flower with a very elegant trumpet.
