Crows as game birds

made me smile.  Dad shot a crow so we could understand the phrase “eat crow” but my mom is particularly fond of them and was furious.  When she was handed the cleaned bird to cook things went from “I’m not cooking it” to “it won’t be cooked in my kitchen” to “not even outside with matches from my kitchen.”  After a decent interval in the freezer, Dad gave it a quiet burial.  Afraid your recipe wouldn’t fly with Mom either.

Drew, the answer to your problem with crows is to declare them “Game Birds”. You must have the right to decide what you want to eat. I’m told they are delicious if cooked in the Australian traditional way of cooking a cockatoo.
  •   Pluck and gut the bird to be cooked.
  •   Place in a large saucepan and cover with plenty of water and seasoning.
.  Place a common house brick in the pot with the  bird.
Bring to the boil and simmer for 10 hours .
Throw away the bird and eat the brick !
  Cheers all Rob Murray
