IMG_1367 “Barbie Doll”?

Hi Barbara,

i have seen “Chiquita” only once (in a display garden in the Netherlands) and it had a solid pink cup with a darker colour at the rim then. Plant and flower were of standard size.

To my eyes your flower looks very much like “Barbie Doll”, which is a lovely seedling of “Kewpie” x “Chiquita”.

“Barbie Doll” grows shorter than most standard daffodils, somewhat like “Foundling” in stature or a little taller and has broad  foliage of dark blue-green. It is listed as an intermediate (ADS) with a flower diameter of 80 mm and can grow slightly larger up to 90 mm in some conditions.

Its perianth is usually spreading or reflexing  with the margins often slightly creased and incurling. The shortish cup opens primrose yellow and usually turns to white with a narrow band of bright reddish pink.
In all a gorgeous flower and plant which is of special interest to me as a possible parent for breeding intermediate daffodils.

Barbara, in the case you have it, could you give me your source of the true “Chiquita”, please? “Chiquita” is  daffodil I am searching for for several years because of its intense colour and nice proportions.

Thanky you
