daffodils and roses

Dear all,
Does anyone know if daffodils and roses are compatible in the same flower bed?  I have the impression it is no problem for the daffs but might be a problem for the roses.

In our dry climate it has not been a problem.  The daffodils are way gone by the time the roses really need water.  During spring we water with a garden hose and a spray wand.  During summer we flood irrigate with a fire hose.  The roses and daffodils were all in place when we moved here about 25 years ago.  The biggest headache we have is weeding due to the endemic, deeply rooted grass/weeds we have.
