daffodils on the newsstand

I’m looking at a copy of the Feb. Southern Living and wishing for a drive down to Georgia soon. I borrowed the issue to read about the new public daffodil garden, Gibbs Gardens, in Ball Ground, GA. According to the article, it has sweeps of over 5 million daffodils in 60 varieties on 50 acres! It is scheduled to open to the public on March 1, but I’m betting some of those daffodils are in bloom already. They list ‘Saint Keverne’ and ‘February Gold’ as two of the varieties. I keep thinking my ‘Saint Keverne’ will open any day. They are tall with fat buds.

Another article in this issue features P. Allen Smith’s Garden Home Retreat at his Moss Mountain Farm located in Roland, Arkansas. A view from the bottom of his Daffodil Hill up to the house is quite nice, as well as one of P. Allen in his gorgeous kitchen, a mostly white pallet, except for several vases filled with bright yellow daffodils. (OK, and a bowl of green apples and one of green artichokes.)

Which issue of Country Gardens has the article about Jill Griesse’s daffodils?

It’s so good to see our favorite flower in the public eye!
