This little mini is bred from Beryl by a tiny jonquil. Consequently I plan on registering it as ‘Baby Beryl’ as it is as smooth as its parent, but what division does it belong to? The petals reflex, this selection only carries one flower to the stem but it does not hang its head. At the moment I am leaning towards division 6Y-Y. What is your opinion? By the way the flowers measure about 26 mm in diameter. Some of its siblings carry more than one flower so those will naturally go into division 12.

Another little charmer, Harold. And the name is perfect. I’d go with 6
Y-Y. There are several standard Div. 6 that don’t hang their heads–Bushtit
and El Camino for a couple. If you go to DaffSeek and query Div. 6, only
those with photos, you’ll see that there are quite a few that don’t hang
their heads.

Harold,
Could it win in Div 6 against the competition? Or would it have a better
chance of winning its class in Div. 12 where the lack of head hanging
wouldn’t penalize it?

If provisionally named ‘Baby Beryl’ ALWAYS comes with a single floret, it undoubtedly should be classified as 6 Y-Y. ‘Baby Beryl’ is an incredible, beautiful daffodil!
