Micro-Mini

V (m)a

Photo #1 is of V05-02-4 which is V00-107-3 = (Petit Buerre x N. cyclamineus) times N. assoanus. It grows about 5″ tall with a flower diameter of 21 mm (just over 3/4″). The segment length is 8 mm and the corona is 7 mm which makes it a Div. 2. even though it looks like a trumpet. It is tiny and what I would call a Micro Mini.

The foliage is sort of interesting. One year and some two year old leaves (immature??) are rounded as in the pollen parent but mature leaves flatten out just a bit and don’t look like a member of Section jonquilla. The immature leaves do look Section jonquilla like. Both leaf types show on the same plant. Some of the siblings have had two florets but this clone, which first flowered in 2010, has maintained a single flower to a stem for three seasons.

V compare(m)a

Photo #2 is a side by side comparison of a V98-1-8 (Now a Selection that may well be named in a season or two) a Miniature seedling of mine which measures 37 mm in diameter. It’s very strange and peculiar to consider the left most flower a Standard size Miniature?????? :-)

V98-1-8 is the first Miniature in flower outside here in the raised Miniature beds. RES (Rjeinveld’s Early Sensation) is also in flower outside.

Sorry for the poor photo quality.

  1. I need such a reptile!

I probably will have access to one(no I don’t think so) before I can buy a sample of Steve’s seedling! But I do not need any more minis to kill-I will dig that div 8 this year that is so cheap and plant it where It will have a longer season…

I cannot recall the name- has given me two mini whites..
