Miniature Seedling – Slightly Improved Width

This is Seedling # V05-05-7 = Camborn x (Xana x Candlepower). Flower diameter is 36 mm or under 1 1/2″. Overall height is under 4 1/2″ as shown. Now blooming outside in one of the raised beds. Even though both parents are white, this particular clone is light yellow. Others from this cross are white and two of them are bicolor. Has somewhat improved petal width and the same style of trumpet as in ‘Camborn’. Substance might rate fair instead of poor.

I think the overall form and pose are a bit better than average. Not yet a Selection but has three flowers this year and will bear watching.

    Will indeed do so. Happy to share. One cross already written down on my “Crosses to Make” list is with the best of the Roundita x (Xana x Candlepower) seedlings. This will give my V99-3 cross (Xana x Candlepower) on both the maternal and paternal side as grandparents.

    I do recall walking the field rows with Sid DuBose early on. I reached out and read one of his breeding tags hanging from a ripening seed pod. Sid tilted his head peering at me from the corner of his eyes with his pixie smile and said, “reading another persons breeding tags is the daffodil equivalent of looking into someones bedroom window at night”! :-) , :-) , :-)
