The division 11b’s have always been stepchildren, except for Brian’s
Duncan’s Jodi and Jodi’s Sister. Here is my first attempt at a
miniature 11b. But it measures 60 mm so is way too big. Hopefully
some still to bloom in the future will come smaller. For its type the
perianth is relatively flat and smooth. those who have seen it like
it despite a couple of petal notches. maybe it will breed on and I
can try and reduce size in the next generation.

But surely a lovely intermediate if it only comes with one bloom per stem.
And maybe your “bummer” bred from Perpetuation might come, in the future,
with more than one to a stem, with smaller florets. And then be a fine
addition to the miniature section. But why do you think it’s too small to
be an intermediate? Would be overlooked?

Hi Mary Lou:
I think the Perpetuation seedling would unbalance a collection
because of its small size and would look out of place. Unfortunately
the 11b comes on a short stem what I want for the miniatures but not
intermediates. The 11b seems to have nice fluffy pollen so I have
been putting it onto Pink China and Brooke Ager to try and get a
better 11b intermediate to use for mini breeding, but I also put its
pollen on some mini 8W-Ps to try and get minis.

Harold,
I agree with Mary Lou. Is a 75mm intermediate ‘better’ than a 55mm
intermediate? Says who? An excellent flower can stand on its own. What
judge would not see the obvious quality of the Perpetuation seedling?
