I’ve finished Editing the photos, but need to get to sleep.
I’ll post this one photo for tonight.
The Standard Red White & Blue Ribbon offered for the best collection of
5 different standard daffodils, all bred in America was awarded to a
collection that contained the following flowers:
Gull, California Classic, Bee Mabley, Conestoga & Lemon Lyric.
This entry also won the Purple Ribbon & the best exhibit in
Horticulture. The speciman of Gull also was awarded the Gold ribbon for
the best standard Daffodil in the show.
The exhibitor was Lynn Ladd.
whew!
Admired the ‘Gull’ in Lynn Ladd’s entry. Now can someone tell me how to keep great whites like ‘Gull’ flourishing for years? I can’t keep them.
(Well, except for ‘Ice Follies’! Sorry, just couldn’t resist since Tim initiated the thread.)

Bill, I have Gull planted in 7 places and it is alive(not flourishing) in two :o))I don’t do any better with Phoenician..I treasure my best exhibit in horticulture award from Georgia-I did feel guilty taking it home, but my div 6 collection was nice that early in the seasonJohn Beck
Hey Bill, I sent Lynn’s Gull to her as thanks for helping in chicago. I
have been growing Gull for about ten years under a maple tree. I don’t know,
lots of shade and the bulbs have to fight the maple tree roots for water? I
also have White Ideal growing out in the daffodil woods also under a tree –
and I have been told that white ideal is out of commerce because they don’t
last.
What a phenomenal year for daffs – too bad so early!

Thanks again to Tom for the photography and to Lynn for bringing such a wonderful entry. Her N. ‘Gull’ is so clean and bright and great to see it up close and personal again.
