Hailstorm in Canterbury NZ

Snowy Morn (480x640)

Last night I witnessed a hailstorm of a ferocity unfamiliar to myself. Hailstones here of up to 30mm and in Christchurch the size of golfballs.

Just the thing  you don’t want to happen when you are 1 week away from the North Island national show.

The patch looks like someone has been let loose with a shotgun filled with buckshot – Incredible!!!

From left a not so impeccable Impeccable, Abracadabra, Snowy Morn and a very nice 1ww seedling.

Bugger!!!!

  1. Malcolm,

That is sad news. Hopefully, you had some good ones already in the fridge. There should be enough time for fresh blooms for the WDC Show.

David, Michael, and Alistair, how did your patches fare?

  2. Malcolm and Rozanne I am really sorry to see the damage to your flowers – that looks like a very good white trumpet.

  3. So Sorry to see the damage. Peter Tijsen had a similar experience several days before our Titahi Bay Show. He was left with about 10 blooms in his patch – Heart breaking.
