newbie needs help ordering

Hola daff folks,

I moved into a new house and want to buy bulbs to plant this fall.

Sounds easy?? Whoa. White Flower Farm? Brecks? Home Depot?
And so many varieties? Brecks has a guarantee and seems like good pricing, but hard to compare since so many varieties seem to be called different things from catalog to catalog.

Anyone have advice on high quality low pricing (with guarantees)

  1. Hi Nancy.

You might try  http://www.BrentandBeckysbulbs.com  rather than those you’ve mentioned.  At the very least, you’ll see photos.  If bulbs aren’t named correctly, you can ask for a replacement.  If you see something  you like in their online catalog, it’s possible Home Depot may also have them.  I don’t know anything about Home Depot’s quality, or any guarantee.  But you can buy today, and plant today.  :-)

  2. Hi, Nancy, I see you’re located in Massachusetts.  I would also recommend Brent & Becky’s if you’re looking for 5-10 or more bulbs of each variety.  Look at the bulbs that have a W symbol for Wister winners (proven good garden varieties) or the ones with a heart symbol (meaning those varieties are B&B’s favorites).  If you want to try more different daffodils (ordering one bulb at a time to have a more interesting variety of flowers), you might try a local (to you) grower, David Burdick’s Daffodils and More located in Dalton, MA: http://www.daffodilsandmore.com.

I like to know the names of my daffodils and learned early on not to order a daffodil “collection” that is made of unnamed daffodils. Look for named, recommended varieties and I think you will be very happy next spring!
