Middle Tennessee Daffodil Society Show

I don’t have time  to work on everything tonight from the MTDS show today, but I wanted to share the Gold ribbon winner AND the exhibitor.

During staging, Michael Kuduk noticed a very nice flower being held back by someone assembling arrangements. This exhibitor is a member of the MTDS but doesn’t exhibit, nor did she know some of the flower names that she had brought with her for inclusion in the arrangements.

Michael asked her if she was going to put this nice flower in the show, and she said “No”, I was planning on putting it in an arrangement. He was quite concerned with this as it was quite a nice flower, so tried to talk her into putting this flower in the show, which took quite some effort as Michael Berrigan needed to be involved to try to find the name of the flower. It was ID’d as well as another stem that had no name and both stems were put in the show.

The attached photo shows the 1st flower that was a concern of Michael Kuduk and the exhibitor. This flower ended up being the Gold Ribbon winner – Marieke: 1Y-GYY. a VERY large and VERY nice flower!  Exhibited by Anne Cain a 1st time ADS winner who also won the best single  stem Historic Ribbon with Ceylon. I ended up announcing the exhibitors name after the tally, and the excitement was overflowing!.

  1. Another beautiful daffodil person/flower portrait, Tom! And a huge thanks to Tom and to Michael Berrigan for coming to Nashville to help me teach Judges School I on Friday. We had 11 students and they all passed! Tom and Michael both stayed over to help judge our show yesterday and then Tom photographed the show.

So, a huge THANK YOU to Tom and Michael and to many other people who helped with our school (Thanks, Carolyn Hawkins!) and show. Another huge THANK YOU to all of you in the US and around the globe that volunteer your time and effort and expense to put on your shows and events to keep this daffodil community going and growing! I hope to see many of you in Columbus at the convention in a few weeks!
