The 6.5 Cook Strait earthquake here this evening was very up and down but nothing appeared to have moved where I live in Porirua near Wellington. New Zealand.
Power surges possible and 30+ seconds seems a long time. No Tsunami warning but little aftershocks reported from Wellington city where glass has broken and major shops, churches have been evacuated.
Glad you are okay Margaret, the earthquake was felt over a wide area including here, Wellington seems to have more damage than first thought.
Margaret, thanks for posting this. We’ll be watching the NZ reports and hope everything stays calm with a minimum of damage.
