Hi
The Canberra Horticultural Society held its Spring Bulb and Camellia Show this weekend. It was the Canberra Centenary Show so there were daffodil exhibitors, including David and Robin Jackson and the Crowe’s from other places in Australia and David Adams from New Zealand. The guest judge was Bob Spotts.
Despite some adverse weather conditions the Show was a great success and the daffodil display was superb.
The weather was fine today when a number of daffodil enthusiasts visited Moore Park where Keira Bulbs (Graham and Helen Fleming) grow their daffodils. While last week was our peak time there was still plenty of daffodils in bloom for people to look at. Bob Spots has become the first overseas person to visit twice. His last visit was a number of years ago when he visited on a wet and rainy day.
The winning Glenbrook Bulb Farm Miniature Championship Class entry included a tiny tazetta hybrid 8Y-O and a tiny N tenuifolius as well as a very nice miniature 5W-W seedling that won champion triandus. The champion miniature was a superb miniature 6Y-W seedling.
The Champion Intermediate was a very fine 1W-P seedling. It was more a Tasmanian pink colour than the cherry pink from the USA.
Thanks so much for sending the photos, appreciate seeing the flowers and the people!
