Annual Plea

The Virginia Daffodil Society will hold its fall meeting and bulb exchange Oct. 9. For years, one generous member was responsible for supplying nearly all of the bulbs for the exchange, but all good things eventually end (thank you, Clay). Some of you kindly responded to my requests for bulbs in the last few years. If anyone has any extra bulbs, we sure could use them and will reimburse shipping costs. This popular annual event helps maintain interest and participation in VDS. Contact me at title=.

  1. Nancy,

I’m back in position to offer you a box of bulbs again this year. I hope
others will help also. That box may not be as much as I used to give to the
VDS when I could easily attend your meetings. Send an address for the
bulbs to my private email. I know you have it as we have corresponded in
    the past.

  2. Thanks, Clay. VDS so appreciates your generosity. You have such great bulbs, many of my NC “pickups” are still thriving.

  3. Hello Clay,

That time of year again!! We would be glad to have some of your bulbs for our exchange if you have plenty. Several people have dug….I only did some clumps that were very very overgrown. Amazing how many bulbs can multiply from one or two bulbs in just a couple years!!

Our newsletter will come out this next week. I think we will be having our meeting in Kathys garage/ driveway!! It is hard to find places to have gatherings with this covid hanging around.

Hope you and Fran are staying well. We have been good so far. Got our Booster vaccine two weeks ago so hopefully IF we get something it will not be too bad.

Take care. Miss seeing you and Fran but glad you have enjoyed being close to family. Glenna

  4. Glenna,
With the help of Kathy’s bulbs I have rebuilt my daffodil holdings. As you
know, I lost many of my bulbs when I moved to New Jersey for North
Carolina, as I had to plant them in late December/January into almost
    frozen ground.
Three years now and I have an abundance of bulbs that I will have to thin
out to replant. I have determined to not make new beds so that leaves me
with one option, give bulbs away.

So yes, I will be giving bulbs to WDS this year. I have not decided if I
will be coming to the meeting, or if I will mail them. If I mail them to
you, can you take them to the WDS fall meeting?

Both Fran and I have had our two initial shots or vaccines, they are not
    offering the booster here yet.shot

    Clay
