The flowering is moving at a steady pace – we are approaching mid season in most of the North Island .Unfortunately , due to Covid Delta and the restrictions imposed , we are not allowed group gatherings – NO FLOWER SHOWS . Our local Otaki Horticultural Society , due for this Friday , 3 September has been cancelled . This is our first cancelation since 1968 : – we were also holding a Chrysanthemum Show then .A massive storm over central NZ , known as the WAHINE STORM , April 10 1968 , in which our InterIsland ferry , the Wahine , ran aground entering Wellington Harbour , with the loss of 56 lives .All trees , plants , flowers etc in the area were badly damaged . This time the flowers are great but – — – .
