Daffodil Show by the Little Garden Club of Rye, NY

I just came back from the exciting little show at Rye.  It was a small show as it should be. I feel I should apologize for winning more than I should have. The hostess’s and the judges, including students judges, were excellent and excited.  I took this pictures after the hall was full of people and I had to work my way around visitors, which shouldn’t have bothered me, but it did because they all kept asking me questions.  Special credit goes to Cheryl Adler for being the hostess and all around fix-it person. However this is the pictures that I got:

The best in show, or Gold Ribbon was Banker 2Y-O Exhibited by Clay and Fran Higgins

The best youth bloom was Poeticus Plenus exhibited by Ethan Poppob.  It is not the best of photos, but with the crowd I was hurried.

The best Classic was Audobon 2W-WWP exhibited by Chris Murray

The best 3 stems miniature or Mini white ribbon was Angel’s Breath 5Y-Y Exhibited by Libby Well.

The best Three Stems Historics was Beryl 6W-YYO exhibited by Lisa Lovejoy.  The top daffodil of this three was also the Best Historic.

The best three Stem Intermediates and the White Ribbon was exhibited by Gabrielle Hall.

The mini Gold Ribbon was Snipe 6W-W exhibited by Lisa Lovejoy

The Purple Ribbon, best collection of five standard daffodils was the Divisional Collection of 5 exhibited by Clay and Fran Higgins.  The best in show Banker came from this collection. It also included Swampscott and Xavier two of Clay’s named hybridized daffodils.

  1. I’ve made some corrections and updates to the original post. Click on the
    original post for the update.

  2. Thanks for taking photos and sharing them, Clay. I hope I’ll see you and Fran at the Greenwich show!

  3. Yes. Fran and I will be at Greenwich Show again this year, but I can’t
guarantee daffodils as we are having 80 + degree weather and the daffodils
are opening and frying with the same 24 hour period.
I always try to do photos when I go to a show as long as the show committee
    does not object.

  4. It was called to my attention that the Bozievich Award had six daffodils on the front row and only 5 names.  So I edited the original post again and add Killearnan 3W-GYR so the front row will have 6 daffodil names.

    Thanks
