What’s the trick to get Golden Rain to bloom?

All,

Golden Rain is an erratic bloomer at best, and I’m not the only one who has fits with it.

What’s the trick to get it to bloom? Does it need a long, hot, dry summer? A good hard drenching at just the right time? Summer lifting?

Help!

Sara

  1. To my simple mind flowering is a survival mechanism. If the bulb is stressed and thinks it is going to die it will make a flower to make seeds and ensure it’s survival.

  2. Mine is flowering now. It is growing in partial shade under an apricot tree. Double Roman is also flowering now, coincidentally under my neighbor’s apricot tree. It has been in heavy shade.

If it is not flowering I would try some bulbs in the shade.
