Vale Graeme Brumley

I have been informed that Graeme Brumley passed away last Saturday. He turned 90 this year.

Graeme was from a daffodil family and had a long standing involvement with daffodils and the Victorian Daffodil Society. His main breeding interest was pink daffodils, which he named after mostly Victorian rivers, a reflection of his interest in fly fishing.

Perhaps his most enduring breeding legacy will be the pink N. viridiflorus hybrid Timbarra Pink, which he planned to register, In addition to being pink, it has shown itself to be vigorous and with a tendency to repeat flower. I expect Timbarra Pink will become a key foundation flower in the breeding of fertile jonquil hybrids.

My sympathy to Graeme’s friends and family.

  1. Lawrence, Thanks so much for advising us of this loss to our daffodil family. His Timbarra Pink is truly a beautiful viridiflorus hybrid. Sincere condolences to his friends and family.
