Ralph et al,
Please find the picture of my flower box that crossed the Atlantic to Portland a few years back, I used rolls of tissue paper across the box supporting the flower heads and foam pipe insulation to support the stems.
It worked so well until I reached Chicago O’Hare. There a big lady with big rubber gloves rubbed every perianth of every flower of mine to make sure they were real!
At the other side of the box you will see 10 flowers I picked for my friend Tony James who had flown out a week before but asked me to take what he had with me. As I’m sure you have guessed already the lady did not touch his flowers, so he won 3 Blue Ribbons and I won none! The morel of this story is, don’t declare your flowers unless asked to do so.
Since I have put my flower box on top of my case on the trolley and keep walking to the exit, 9 time out of ten you walk strait through.
Regard to all
Ian
