daffodil resource request

Hi, John,
You will find many sources posted here on the American Daffodil Society’s website. Many of these companies have online catalogs. Check out Brent & Becky’s catalog for a good selection of reasonably priced daffodils, but you’ll find an amazing variety of bulbs available in the vendors represented in this list.

I just got back home late night from 2 weeks in California surrounding the ADS convention in Murphys. It was a fantastic convention! I have hundreds of emails to catch up with, hundreds of photos to download to my computer from the trip, and numerous daffodils to see in the garden once it is light outside. The weather report says it’s 36 degrees outside with predictions of rain with some snow mixed in.

  1. I don’t sell Brent and Becky’s bulbs so I’m neutral. I do know that when I have received a daffodil that was miss-named from Brent and Becky’s, Brent made it good by sending me the right one on the next order. The problem is that you don’t know until the following spring when they bloom, and he still make it rights.

I’ve found that Mitsch Daffodils and John Reed are 100% accurate to the name. I recommend all three. And if you want to go to the British Isles, Ringhaddy Daffodils and Scamp Daffodils have been very reliable.

  2. Brecks actually did provide decent flowers for me,I would say that Mitsch is the best but qualify that based upon where you live, I get good or great blooms from most of their bulbs, some people have to let the plants acclimate for several years. You will get a much better price from Brent and Becky’s and they should all bloom, and Brent once told me that the bulbs are guaranteed, but I have not read the current catalog as to what the guarantee is. Most of my flowers come from Oakwood Daffodils bulbs, John Reed lists a lot of different things in his catalog and I like to grow way too many different bulbs. I like to find cultivars which have won in shows especially the top prizes.

But have you said what YOU are looking for?

I would recommend most people pick up a bag of Salome or Camelot and give them deep holes with good soil and proper watering, end up spending more for your shovel if you buy them at the hardware store….
