Dune ‘Silly Season’

Brian’s sea daffodil could just be the start of a Dune ‘Silly Season’ The attached is a flower (similar in appearance but much smaller) which Wendy and I went to see in the dunes on the east coast of Sweden last month after a visit to Linnaeus’ garden. They grow in thousands and their smell even from a great distance was remarked upon by Linnaeus when he saw them there centuries ago. The fact that they have a nice smell could help you to identify it. James Akers

  1. Looks like a dianthus to me. Maybe a white form of D. deltoides?

  2. Janet correctly identified the flowers in the dunes in Sweden as Dianthus arenarius.
