no daffs – it’s a zoo out there!

Photo taken early this morning at the so-called “bird” feeders off my sun room–raccoon, skunk, squirrel, hummingbird, more birds. I could hear the pileated woodpecker calling and wondered if it was going to drop in for some suet and join the party. It didn’t, but while I was watching the raccoon saw me, jumped down right by the skunk, the skunk put up its tail, but thank goodness it didn’t spray!

  1. We get the pilleated woodpecker and several others at our suet feeder each day, Becky. I also now have to put out extra sunflower seeds each morning for the wild turkeys who come to visit. Usually there are just a couple, but some days we have a flock of 10 or more. They are great fun to watch. Tom Stettner says he gets a lot of wild turkeys too. Bill Lee —-

  2. I would sure rather have the wild turkeys instead of the raccoons, family of skunks, and other critters we get under our feeders. The joys of “country” living. The darn skunks are pretty tho. The Mom is almost all white. First photos here are the babies, last one the Mom. Darn things are so tame they just stay where they are when we go out the door or Dave goes to feed the birds!

  3. We have wild turkey’s in the woods behind our house but they don’t come to the feeder because of the fence.  However, everything else except the skunk, and instead substitute the red fox family is there.  And, an occasional hawk and a falcon.

Becky loved your bird feeder set up along with Mr. Raccoon that almost was hidden by natural camouflage.

  4. I always wanted a pet skunk, just something in the back of my head, but now that I saw the almost white female, now I really want one. She is beautiful and you’re lucky to have her visit you.
