Another flower that impressed judge Wilf Hall at the New Plymouth show was Apache Chief ; a well coloured 2 – O – O from Spud Brogden .
It was Premier N O E at N P and has had several premiers at National Shows , particularly in the South Island.
Wilf and I have both commented that the tazettas are having a very good season .We had a very warm and dry ( droughts in many areas ) , summer in our area and we both feel that this has given good heads with higher than average flowers per stem and many stems per bulb .A good summer baking ! Wilf had several tazettas at Titahi Bay . Campino is a recently named flower with thick strong stems and an attractive flattened cup .
G M X 173 had 5 smooth flowers , well held and real show potential .
T – 24 had a very attractive cup colour and good form .
I have registered several tazettas with the ” Kapiti ” prefix and the unregistered Kapiti Cupid is a nice 8 W – P , bred from Dear Me – x — Sol D,Or seedling . It was awarded a N D S , P C when first shown as sdlg 93 – 20 . The 5 header is unusual , generally 2 – 3 , supporting the hot summer theory .It has a strong but not tall stem and would make a good container daff. A strong vase with one 5 header and 2 four headers .
Very nice Wilf. And your Kapiti Cupid looks as if it has a pink flush to the tepals. Is that for real or is the camera playing tricks?
