The Central Daffodil Group and the Taranaki Daffodil Club combined for a late season show on Saturday 3 October , – Held in the Hawera Community Hall . It was a fine spring show day but the previous week we had very strong and damaging winds in the area .All exhibitors said that almost all blooms were picked before the gales or had been very well protected .The worst damage I had seen on field crops for several decades , plus a little hail to conclude the attack . However 15 exhibitors filled 203 vases with 321 flowers ; a very good result for a late show with growers from the top and bottom of our area enjoying a combined show .Big thanks to Spud Brogden , Joy , Lucy , David and the rest of the team that provided refreshments throughout the day and a fine lunch for all . The season was running very early ; we suspected flowers may be in short supply and lifting of Covid 19 regulations made decisions difficult until close to show day . But the spirit throughout the season has been positive ; restrictions were relaxed and the show was all go .
