Anne Wood’s new biography about Dr William Bender

In preparation for the spring convention in Gettysburg, PA, Anne Wood wrote a biography of their most celebrated local ADS member Dr William Bender. Anne wrote and designed this book to celebrate the life of one of our most revered Daffodil enthusiasts. This is a biography that focuses on both his hybridizing skills and social network from this work to his influence and guidance on our society as a whole.

The American Daffodil Society has used its book publishing association with Kindle Press to offer this Print on Demand book. Please visit AmazonSmile.com to order your copy. Anne will be in Gettysburg and happy to sign your copy. We will only have a few copies in Gettysburg for sale so it will be best to bring your own copy.

    I have been reading your book and enjoying it very much. Very interesting as to how he became interested in daffodils and also the naming of some of his daffodils. He seemed like a warm and comfortable man. So glad he shared his talents of hybridizing with us all. Glenna Graves

  11. I am enjoying this book. I’m not only learning more about Dr. Bender, but also the ADS decades ago. Anne included his passionate “Case Against Mandatory Use of Color Codes on ADS Show Entry Tags” that appeared in the September 1981 ADS Journal–it was a fun read. Happy to see several mentions of Gloucester’s (VA) Granville Hall.
